Shannon currently serves as Deputy Chief Projects Officer in Denver Mayor Mike Johnston’s administration.
Previously, she worked as an independent real estate and financial consultant since moving to Colorado in 1991. She worked with businesses, principally in the real estate industry, advising on business and development plans, financial structure, and lender and investor relations, and preparing complex financial models. She has also advised on numerous debt restructurings for commercial property.
Prior to 1991, Shannon spent six years working at Columbia University, where she evaluated prospective acquisitions and developed policies for the management of the University’s extensive institutional real estate portfolio, monitored funding procedures for campus funding projects, structured and negotiated business terms for a biomedical research park being jointly developed by Columbia University, New York City and State, and was responsible for transition planning for the finance department for the University’s new planning, budgeting, and control system. In New York she also worked for two years for The Publishing Group, conducting acquisition feasibility analyses and advising on financial structure for prospective buyout transactions. Previous assignments included conducting market and technical studies to analyze prospective development projects for the Wharton Management and Behavioral Science Center (a Wharton-based consulting firm), and developing manuals for the mortgage department of the Philadelphia Savings Fund Society (PSFS).
She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
